ok this sem was decent. but i rly expected much more.
MA3110 Mathematical Analysis II
workload/content: this is core mod for math/applied math majors. not too heavy actually. chapters only 4 or 5 i think. i don't even rly read it that much after the lecture. occasionally. i do think it's quite fun though, interesting to learn about integration. or how it actually works, a little more than i used to know. not just Riemann sums, but inf of upper limit and sup of lower limit. very interesting. also understood Taylor's theorem a little more.
lecturer: prof tang wai shing was ok. very approachable, but perhaps not the most entertaining prof *LOL*. but he's nice because he prints tutorials and homework!!!! so u no need print HAHA.
assessment: constitutes of 4 homework (1 or 2 questions), 2 tutorial presentation, 1 midterms, finals. ok i did pretty decent for midterms, top 12th in the class *LOL* the total class have 30++ ppl. BUT finals was really damn hard *LOL* i died. we all did. even the guy beside me, after finals, we just look at each other and gg alrdy. and prof tang bluff us. he said since so many ppl did badly for midterms, finals will be easy. bullshit. damn hard. but he did give a practise paper, and it was just as hard. i copied EVERYTHING for my cheatsheet, including ALL notes, ALL tutorials and ALL homework. that sick ok my cheatsheet.
expected: A-
achieved: B+ (not sure why leh. midterms ok, but finals damn hard, but damn hard for everybody...)
MA2202 Algebra
workload/content: my favourite math module so far. IT'S super fun it love it so much. and really loved learning about group theory and finally clearly understood the isomorphism theorems. REALLY FUN TAKE IT EVERYBODY.
lecture: prof Loke hung yean explains content very very clearly, through writing out what he posted on the blog. oh there's no lecture notes. there's a blog. so content is on the blog u can print out but i don't. i just copy notes in class, those stuff that's not on the blog. yeah so prof loke writes out stuff from the blog, but it's much clearer and he explains it well. he's also very lame and very weird and has weird sense of humour. he's fairly approachable (fairly because i'd say he still expects a certain proficiency in mathematics so you can't ask stupid questions.. but still approachable and friendly). AND break times are 10-15 minutes. woohoo. and he'll like come talk to us during break time *LOL* he's so good that we're planning to take a level 4000 module he's teaching next sem. OH he also kindly agreed to write my recommendation level omg super nice.
assessment: 5 homework, but very easy. 2 blog posts. midterms were very easy (i was a little unlucky i didn't copy a certain question from tutorial, coz i thought i could reproduce it but i missed out some part. i got 44/50. but many got full marks so.... midterms were fairly easy.). finals not so easy. unpredictable because there's not much pyp for this subject by prof loke. he used to teach algebra S.
expected: A-
achieved: B+
ST2131 Probability
workload/content: i took it as an ST mod to clear fac req. i hate stats, i hate probability but i'm pretty damn good at it. very boring content very stupid very pointless. btw i took sem 1 probability. there's a diff between sem 1 and sem 2; sem 1 most applied math/math so it's more proving apparently but no just more computation leh. sem 2 mostly applied math/stats, so apparently very easy. finals was mcq wth????
lecturer: prof lou jian hua lectures very well but content very boring la. he also has a lot of quotes/wisdom on life that he imparts in lectures *LOL* it's rly very *lol*. he asked if we all read some chinese poem or not **lol**. and almost made us stand up for singapore during national day period. wth. also, if he's you tutorial teacher that's good. pay attention in tutorials, because a lot of the questions he goes through will come out. or the same concept behind it like the graph drawing will come out. no breaks in lectures btw.
assessment: 40% midterm, 60% finals. i think it's good, so i don't have to bother with homework etc. but tutorials are very long, like 20 questions kind of long. he only goes through 2-4 questions in tut though.
expected/achieved: A/A
CS1010S Programming Methodology
workload/content: very heavy workload, not so easy content. i easily spent most of my time on this module, because there are deadlines each week. damn shit i hate this piece of shit i spent so much effort then get this score zzzz hate it so much. i do not recommend this, unless u planning to do a CS minor. or you are math major who can juggle very well. because a fair amount of concepts should be sound to math majors.
lecture: idk. i don't go lectures. i just read lecture notes which are useless as well.
assessment: coursemology, midterm, practical, finals, tutorials. all i put in damn a lot of effort, but i didn't study for midterms and finals. like at all i didn't touch it at all, because.. if you did coursemo, you'd understand the concepts etc and you can't rly study for it eh IMO **lol**.
expected/achieved: A/B+ (apparently there's no bellcurve but i don't believe.)
LAJ1201 Japanese I
workload/content: heavy workload, but very fun content. idk i really enjoy it??????? i love it so much. but workload.. actually i think it's decent. you just can't leave it alone for ½ weeks. every week you must touch. if not GG. like.. every week need to memorise vocab for vocab quiz. and memorise dialogue for oral test. and do homework. but i feel it's necessary to be really familiar with the language. additional tip: i use memris app, there's the minna no nihongo topic for japanese, i found it helpful.
lecture: erm compulsory because have lecture quiz. the lecture pace is very fast, and you kind of forced to pay attention because of mic-san. **LOL**. but not a boring lecture. but i usually very angry in lecture, because the pace is SOOOOO fast, like you don't even have time to copy anything. then they will ask u to go back and revise. then i go lecture for what?! zhenyue had to convince me to stay for many lectures, coz i angry want to zao. *LOL* ( you must understand japanese lectures were my last class on my most tiring day. tuesdays 10-6pm no break. so... it pisses me off hahaha)
assessment: i'm not sure of the breakdown, they don't reveal. but it constitutes tutorial participation, tutorial quizzes, tutorial dialogue performance, homework, attendance, lecture quizzes, midterms, finals. yeah a lot of things, but just do everything you should be fine. plus i found it really fun so, the work wasn't too bad. both my tutorial senseis were approachable and fun. always talk cock with them and they love me. HAHAH. there was once zhenyue and i talk cock with sensei, like for 5 minutes straight just 3 of us talking in the class hahahah like don't care the rest omg damn bad but fun hahah. shirakawa sensei also wrote my recommendation letter very willingly and gladly. she's amazing!!
expected/achieved: A-
as u can see, i expected much higher this semester. but oh wells. i tried. current cap not too bad, 4.27. will keep working hard! but really, this semester, i have a lot of fun, and really enjoyed what i was studying. so happy to be doing math (except probability that's not math), so it was still a good semester. YOU DON'T UNDERSTAN how much joy i feel for math.

Seoul, Daegu, Busan, Tsushima, December 2015
ok let me summarise what i did after my family left. very lazy to go into detail. but just a quick update i guess. (maybe nt so quick...)
day1
fam left, i took a train to Jamsil, to get to my airbnb apartment. it was real cheap, like 15SGD and decent enough for me (hot water, towel, clean bed, wifi) so yeah not too bad i guess. the host was pretty easy to talk to. nice lady, very helpful. just pretty much chilled this day. some peace away from my fam.
day2
woke to met Sam at Anam station. quite far, but so great to meet him!!! very happy. he showed me his campus, really fun to catch up with him. oh man miss him!! then we chilled, had bingsu. already blogged about it.
day3
took bus to Daegu
already blogged about day 3 and day 4 and day 5.
day6
stayed at some stupid hostel near Busan station. quite dirty leh but cheap lor like SGD18 or smth. it's called cube guesthouse. i do not recommend. woke and roamed around before going to another hostel. THIS I RECOMMEND. 100% recommend. it's called May's house. google.
it's amazing. the host couple are super helpful, very hipster indie feel. HAHA. and they speak really good english and friendly and so nice. ok the hostel is near so it's really super clean i love it. breakfast provided (toast) and they help me do my laundry and settle my ferry tickets thing. SO HELPFUL OMG. i highly recommend. it's also... SGD11 a night. it's real nice bed, blankets are damn comfortable, super clean i love it. pls stay here. went to Seomyeon area, did some major shopping *LOL* also checked out Gwangalli beach. recommended by Claud, as it's less crowded than Haeundae beach. i just sat at starbucks, did my QT and enjoyed the view. oh a lovely family sat beside and asked me to get them a photo. afterwards, we chatted for a bit. they picked up on me being a foreigner (duh) and asked where i was from. i said Singapore, and they were like oh i've been there. blah blah. how do i like Busan, etc. was i alone, how old. so friendly. awww. had 2 kids. so cute. omg. so friendly.
day7
shifted into this motel near Busan station. pretty good like SGD40++ a night. just chilled mostly. went shopping/exploring at night. walked from my motel to .... BIFF area and explored. headed back for an early night but i didn't get much sleep. sighs.
day8
woke early to get the ferry to Tsushima. pretty simple to check in etc. but just rly early **lol**. like i checked in 7.15 or smth. boarding 745, ferry left at 8am. OK SO THIS FERRy is like the best transportation i've ever ridden. i got a single seat by the window. like single seat meaning no other seats beside me. haha. and i had a lot of space loads of legroom, so i dumped my mega backpack on the floor and propped my legs on it. and the seat you can recline it really far back, so super comfy. and the tv was just infant of me, and it was playing return of superman!!!! omg best ever super happy hahahahaha. i didn't dare move at all like stand up and walk because i'm prone to seasickness. but i was very comfortable in my chair, so no need to move.
i think the ride took 1.5 hours. docked at Tsushima. customs was fairly simple though, but most (if not all) tourists are Koreans, so i think that's why they decided to screen me a little longer a the customs. **lol**. like i was singled out and had to do a longer customs check, but they were real polite and friendly so it's cool. got out of customs with no clue where i was *LOL* got a map next building and walked to my accommodation.
i booked 2 nights at Seizanji temple. it's a temple, but also a hostel so they claim. more like a ryokan IMO. i got a ten tatami mat room. like private room. i LOVE IT OMG I LOVE TATAMI ROOMS. shared bath, toilets but there was always nobody there. like the whole time i was there i really didn't see much ppl be it the monks there or other guests. but i like this place it's comfortable, clean and nice. stay here if you do go. yup i walked to here from Izuhara harbour. ok so i dumped my bag at the temple (there was nobody at 11am... idk why. so i dumped my bag and wrote a small note *LOL*) then went to explore. and even more *lol* because i finished exploring by like 2pm. like i already almost walked the whole town by 2pm. it's THAT small. so ok i just hung around for a bit and checked in at 3plus. just chilled in room, then went out for dinner at 5plus. had some Tsushima burger, not bad! came back and had an early night. about 6pm, it was completely dark already.
day9
woke for breakfast at 8am. omg the breakfast was REALLY GOOD. i loved it! yummy. then went back to sleep HAHAHA until 10plus. also got my results. i'll do a post on that later. (i got the sms notification la. you think i on holiday will go website check results meh) then decided to go for a little hike, went to see some castle place. but i scared *LOL* coz there's like NOBODY there. (the island very small tourists not a lot) so i just hike a little and read my book there. nice. then went back down, go for a walk go back room and stone and had dinner then slept at 8pm. that's how bored i was. but mostly because... i didn't have the japanese adapter so i couldn't charge anything. macbook dying, phone dying. so i drained my macbook to charge my phone. and i couldn't use either because not enough battery...
day10
(this would be the worst day of my trip)
woke at 6plus to catch a 710am bus. it was a 2 hour bus ride to the other side of Tsushima island. i had to catch my return ferry from this side, Hitakatsu port. there was a 1000yen day pass for tourist. if not i had to pay 3000 plus yen... which i did not have. i was running out of yen. then got there, just chilled the port for 6-7 hours. no joke. then took a 1 hour ferry ride back to Busan. then took a 5 hour train back to seoul. i almost died i was SOO BORED coz my macbook and phone no battery since i hadn't charged it rmb. almost died when i got to Claud's place. it's funny coz her sister and the boyfriend was crashing also. HAHAh so rly like refugee camp ***lol***
day11
i went to Namdaemun in the morn for breakfast and made 3 pairs of specs there **LOL**. one pair cost about SGD60-70? really cheap IMO so i made for myself, and mom and sis. just needed their specifications like degree axis etc. then walked to Myeongdong. ate street food and shopped even more **LOL**. then went to seoul station lotte mart to shop somemore. headed back to claud's at around... 8plus pm. bathed packed, and her roomie Alicia came back and brought some friends too. all from NTU hahaha. then they bought drinks and so we played card games and drank soju. not too bad. quite interesting and fun HAHA.
day12 (i think it's christmas day...)
woke got ready, and headed with Claudia and Alicia to meet Claudia's friend at Gwangjang market. had the live octopus quite interesting. then headed to Hyehwa for a walk. then Sinchon for walk and dinner. quite fun. we also decided to come up with an impromptu gift exchange. we had half an hour to roam sinchon to find a gift, and meet back again. HAHA. had yoogane for dinner and bought a christmas cake!! it was quite cold at night. like i-need-to-get-out-of-the-cold kind of cold. headed back. bathe, did mask then christmas cake and gift exchange and soju. very fun.
then it snowed at night!! white christmas indeed HAHA. very fun night. like i didn't rly know the other 2 friends that well, but doesn't matter much. we just talked, shared some thoughts etc. very fun and interesting. i'm glad it happened, what more on christmas. wasn't expecting any of it, didn't planned it either. nice.
day13
headed to Ewha with Claudia's friend (i wanted to go, she had nothing to do). shopped a bit, then decided to head to Hongdae. still crazy crowded but a little better. we could enjoy some street performances, street food. had bbq meat for dinner. then headed back to apartment. Claudia and Alicia came back and we had soju again. and finished our christmas cake. it was quite nice again.
day14(last day! flying at night)
headed to MyeongDong, all 4 of us. shopped, street food and had andong jjimdak at night for dinner! yay jjimdak for my last meal. i freaking love jjimdak omg. then went back around 6plus 7, to grab my bag and head to the airport. very fun and interesting.
overall summary:
it's fun and cold. got a chance to spend some much needed quality time with God, and really understanding much more about Grace, the true message of the gospel. great times, great fun. also, totally enjoying my alone time.
interesting theory i've never heard of:
claudia is afraid of animals. like no joke kind of afraid **LOL**. she has this theory about cats. she things they got scary eyes, and when bad ppl die, they are trapped in the eyes of cats that's why so scary. much interesting.
day1
fam left, i took a train to Jamsil, to get to my airbnb apartment. it was real cheap, like 15SGD and decent enough for me (hot water, towel, clean bed, wifi) so yeah not too bad i guess. the host was pretty easy to talk to. nice lady, very helpful. just pretty much chilled this day. some peace away from my fam.

day3
took bus to Daegu
the first apartment's cat. the apartment with the crying girl *LOL*.
if u check out the tree, you can see it's half withered half full of leaves. very interesting to me.
already blogged about day 3 and day 4 and day 5.
Dalseong Park photos. i love this place!
day6
stayed at some stupid hostel near Busan station. quite dirty leh but cheap lor like SGD18 or smth. it's called cube guesthouse. i do not recommend. woke and roamed around before going to another hostel. THIS I RECOMMEND. 100% recommend. it's called May's house. google.
