NUS mod review (IV) y2s2

long overdue apologies. but i got a comment from anonymous, so... i'm hoping these mod reviews help. not in the mood to update on my life, coz.... way toooooo much has happened.

MA4271 Differential Geometry of Curves and Surfaces
workload/content: ok seriously a major reason why we took this is coz of prof loke. he was teaching this, so we took it. and in the first 2 lectures.... we were already like... what shit did we get ourselves into. it's difficult man. but..... it's fun. i really really enjoyed it, no regrets. this is one of the modules where i clearly saw the beauty of math, but....... i honestly dk how/what to do with it. haha. a difficult module, in my opinion, because i found it rather difficult to apply what i've learnt, with some what abstract concepts related to topology and mapping etc. but it's fun. and right now as i'm reviewing in my next sem, this has really helped me understand topology/abstract geometry-ish stuff much better.
BUT having took in my y2s2.... i was way out of my depth haha. the class had 13 people... with master's/year 4 student so as u can tell, i was way out of my depth.
lecturer: i have nothing but praises for prof loke haha. i love his 10 minute breaks. and he tries REALLY HARD to draw analogies for us to understand. so there was once he was explaining about vector field and how they point in a certain direction? then he put a picture of david beckham's hair as an example *LOL*
assessment: presentation/attendance in tutorial. 3 presentations over the whole sem. i think have homework also i can't rmb. midterms and finals. midterms were supposedly easy..... but like i said, way out of my depth, i scored like 22/40? probably lowest in class. most other ppl easily score close to full marks.
expected: C-B- (i honestly had no bloody clue *LOL*)
achieved: B (i must say i copied EVERYTHING into my cheatsheet for finals and it must have saved my ass. i found it rather... easy. because a bunch of questions were similar and i modified etc. my friend who scored same as me for midterms, scored a C+ overall?? other friend scored a B-, despite scoring 34/40 for midterms. so... really blessed hehe)

MA3111 Complex Analysis I
workload/content: i think it's because of the lecturer, but he mostly taught/explained, so that we may score well for his paper. u get it??? workload is fine, there's a homework due almost every week/two weeks. it's good though, because forces us to revise to do the homework. content not difficult, quite a fair bit of computation, analysis, not THAT much.
lecturer: prof chan heng huat. he was my ma1101R tutor in y1s1, and he kinda has an impression of everybody?? *LOL* he makes effort to remember most/all our faces and names, and will call u to present in tutorial. he's nice and cracks lame dad-jokes. he's strict though. not in the sense that he will scold you, but he expects u to attend tutorials.
assessment: homework every week/two weeks, presentation in tutorials, 2 midterms and finals. i did below average for first midterm, above average for second midterm.
expected: B+/A-
achieved: A-

MA2219 Introduction to Geometry
workload/content: not that heavy, and it's actually really fun. every friday lectures are construction time, so bring compass etc. fun, but can be difficult sometimes, especially when you don't see it, when u don't see the picture. but because it's a 2000 module, i probably didn't cared much, didn't study, didn't put in effort. my midterms were REAL SHIT *LOL*
lecturer: graeme wilkin. he's really nice though a little monotonous. he makes feeble attempts at cracking jokes and drawing real-life examples. but really a little monotonous. but he's SO NICE AND REAL APPROACHABLE.
assessment: homework, midterms and finals. my midterms were shit. like i failed i think? really really really bad. i didn't even study/bothered.
expected: B
achieved: B+

LAJ2101 Japanese 2
workload/content: as usual, japanese is heavy workload. prepare for lecture quiz, vocab quiz, listening quiz, conversation role play *lol* every tutorial. more difficult than japanese I because there were tonnes of different forms to remember omg. tutorials were less fun than Japanese I also leh. dk just couldn't talk cock with the teachers *lol*
lecturer: otsuka sensei. amazaki sensei for tutorial A, otsuka sensei for tutorial B. both really nice.
assessment: everything. *lol* rly every thing HAHAH
expected: A-
achieved: B+

SSA2214 Singapore and India: Emerging relations
workload/content: workload v slack actually. one tutorial every two weeks, and lecture. i think it was webcasted. or not. either way, i didn't go. *LOL*. content, should be expected for an arts module, with a thick stack of readings. it's rather interesting actually, certain aspects of it. expected to do a group presentation on one topic, not too difficult.
lecturer: idk *LOL* i didn't even go
assessment: class participation, presentation, midterm essay and finals. but the tutorial.... my tutor cancelled class a few times so honestly had v little tutorials so this module was almost non-existent to me *LOL*
expected: A-
achieved: B+ ( i scored really well for midterms despite not studying. 18/20 or smth like that. essay. expected the same fluke for finals... i guess not haha. but i do speak up in class so......?? idk.)
