Golden Week 2017 [Iwate, Aomori]

this was pretty early.... ready for my long ass drive

my first parallel parking.... actually really out of the lot lol

compared w other cars

where am i??
anw our first stop was at matsushima, for the seafood market. it's pretty near sendai. oysters are famous here but nothing beats those cheap ones from Hitachi man.....

ordered this unadon, coz it was really cheap? like 700Y or smth like that. and the box they served in was so pretty! ordered on first floor, and we took it up to second floor to eat.

look my first unadon btw haha seems like my only unadon, *lol* up to this point.

this shop...

on route to our access.. so we booked it via airbnb and it was pretty difficult to find the place. it's a ryokan, but a lot of ppl come here for the hot springs only? it's not a super atas ryokan. it was really cheap also. 3 of us slept in one tatami room. no food etc. but have hot spring, and it was the hottest hot spring i've ever felt *lol* but there's like no one else staying there, so super shiok.
anw, it was pretty cold here, coz this place is literally located up on a mountain? like have to drove winding roads for about 10 minutes???? and quite scary to drive for me haha.

BUT the conditioner shampoo and soap provided is the 马油 kind? it was REALLY GOOD, made my heart SO smooth and my body so smooth. so good that i took a bath on the last day in the morning hahahah. we stayed here for 2 nights.

that's lim san on her sleeping bag above me. zhao's blue sleeping bag. and me on my futon. oh. they neglected to tell us futons not provided, and if we wanted, it's an additional charge, so we decided not to. they bought sleeping bags and brought it there. i just bought a thick blanket and slept on it. it was really NOT comfortable. i had a terrible sleep. too hard. woke up with body aches.
but the onsen was good tho. hmm. 玉乃湯 is their name.

headed to Genbikei Gorge the next day. pretty long drive from where we stayed. we were staying like... bottom of Iwate, nearer to Miyagi.

i forgot how much it cost. 1000Y or smth like that.

they sell this before on the boat, before the boat leaves.

i like this haha the guy like posing for the pic *lol*.

so the boat goes to some shore deep inside, and u can get out and walk about 200-300m. then go back to boat.

i think this is the main feature.

so u can buy these stones, and throw it into a hole on the wall!! it's actually really hard..... **LOL**. i'd do much better with a netball HAHAHA. but anw these stones are made of clay, so eventually they'll disintegrate and apparently will help clean the lake according to life science student lim san

here's a video of me failing

back on the boat

then we drove to Morioka, to meet aria san. we were super hungry, so we ate this specialty of Morioka, jajangmen **LOL**. it's like everywhere, china korea also got. but this is japanese version. Morioka has 3 great noodles, jajangmen, reimen(cold noodles, again like korea's) and wanko soba. pls google. anw. these jajangmen were pretty good. not bad.

then we drove to Koiwai farm, it's like super famous the milk is everywhere, sendai also have. it's a huge farm... but i wouldn't know coz by the time we got there they closed. sighs.very sad. so unfortunate.

bUT we caught beautiful sakura!!

still in full bloom. a lot of ppl stop to take pic also haha

i love this

in morioka city centre, near the station.

the mascot of Iwate

so these are the 3 great noodles haha we shared it, and i got the wanko soba.

so cute right

we drove back after this. oh it was a long ass story. so we stayed super far.... and to drove back is like... 2 hours? we took like 3 hours. and then we were running out of petrol, and Iwate is like a countryside and so late at night extremely difficult to find gas station in a CITY, let alone a countryside. we super scared, and lim san was sick in the backseat... i prayed like nonstop **lol**. finally found one self-service one. wah heng. but like detour so we took super long to get back... damn tired sighs.

outside the ryokan

LOOK. so we drove to.... i don't even remember LOL

THIS was surprisingly good. some ebikatsudon. wah damn nice *LOL*.

this is Ryusendo. some limestone cave that looks REALLY GOOD. it was pretty cool hahaha

these idk what u call it... pools underground is SUPER DEEP quite scary. like... 50m deep?? so scary omg. i scared i drop my phone down. impossible to get back.

good weather

on the way to some seaside.. i forgot the name also *LOL*.

but NICE

after this we drove to Hachinohe... and our plan was to stay at a internet cafe, coz we couldn't find accoms here. I really Hachinohe *LOL*.

some popular street in hachinohe. oh the name is in the next pic. this was pretty cool but a little scary hahah. and the guy was so skilled at the shamisen.

*lol* at this. but cheap la. like... 2800Y? around there. super cheap for golden week price.

TERRIBLY sleep **lol**. woke up early when i couldn't sleep anymore, played darts w zhao and i won him so many times *lol*.

can't wait to come back to play with YD

went to this fish market. the name is there hahah. anw. this fish market is my fav in japan i think, coz it's fresh, it's big, it's clean, and it's like.. much cheaper? idk why tho *lol*.

panda salt

we got a bento at the fish market to eat. the irony hahah coz the rest expensive la. but this bento only 500Y also v cheap. literally everything is cheap at this fish market. and ... i think thisis my best bento so far in japan *lol*. value for money and super yummy.

this soft cream also v cheap *lol*.

this place was quite nice

this guy hugging his kid so tight.

oh we bought this at ryusendo. cute packaging. but v meh.
anw we drove to Aomori city after this. quite far also *lol*.

koi-odori

the gps brought us through some crazy road through the mountains with snow **lol**. we were shocked

we arrived in Aomori!!! famous for apples, and their apples are legit VERY good

we checked in and had mos burger for dinner.  we checked in around 8pm **lol**.

then we had apple pie, made with aomori apples. it's... good but nothing SPECTACULAR *lol*

our accoms. my best sleep thus far....... and quite cheap too.

went to some fish market, where u create your own kaisen don.

the uni was disappointing. haven't had SUPERB uni yet.

then went to some ferry.

so this is hotate ice cream **lol**. located at the tourist centre called ASPM or smth like that. this ice cream is good, but it barely tastes like scallop. just very slightly salty taste only.

THIS WAS THE BOMB!! once u walk inside the ASPM, u can smell these baking omg so good i had to get one. and when i did, i was lucky enough to get the ones that just came out of the oven!!!!!

famous food here that we never eat. this just a display.

carrot soda

pink curry

my mother's name.

because dog.
drove to hirosaki castle after this, hoping to check out the sakura festival.

these were exhibitions on display, lighted up. really pretty.

lighted up like that

this mascot is rly cute

huge yatai there!! but we don't have time haha coz we told the airbnb owner we gna have dinner with him, asked him to cook for us.

so cute

so we went back to dinner, and the owner, tama-san prepared sukiyaki for us. it was so good. so yummy. really simple ingredients, but so yummy. chatted with him for like 3 hours. he's a weird dude. like he made a spoof youtube channel, called pyongchang, to mock the other Korea. i'm scared to type the name **LOL**. and the channel looks real legit... because he said there's nothing much to do in the area where we were staying at, and reminded him of the other Korea. *lol*.

drove to Iwaki-yama before heading back.

like some crazy 3.5 hour drive back. zhao and i took turns, and hit the road hard. like 1.5 hours straight each. **lol**. crazy.
